Membership Explained

The Membership Year

The NFAS Membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March. New applications and renewals are accepted from January 2nd onwards, and your membership will run until 31st March the following year. So, if you renew your membership now (September 2023) that membership will expire on 31st March 2024.

Joining the NFAS

You can join online or print a membership form and send us a cheque.

All new members will join as Provisional Members. Once signed off as competent, their membership will be upgraded to Full.

Membership renewals

You can renew online or print a membership form and send us a cheque.

All lapsed members (previous members whose membership has not been renewed for 24 months or more) will be joined as Provisional Members.

Replacement Cards

Replacement membership cards can be ordered online. Alternatively, please print, complete and send a membership form (marked with 'replacement card') and appropriate fees to the Membership Secretary. The Replacement card fee is currently £5.

Membership Types

Adult

A member aged over 16 years

Junior

A member under the age of 16 years at the time when he or she becomes a member

Full Membership

Full membership is available to existing members who are renewing their membership within 24 months of their last membership and provisional members who have been certified as competent to shoot by one of the recognised person/s designated on the membership form and registered as such by the Membership Secretary.

There is no additional charge for provisional members upgrading to Full Membership.

Adult members have full voting rights, juniors have no voting rights.

Provisional Membership

Membership for new or lapsed members (existing members whose membership has not been renewed for 24 months or more).

Provisional members are not permitted to shoot at any open, friendly or Championship event; they can shoot at club shoots under the guidance of a coach or experienced archer.

Provisional members have restricted voting rights. To be upgraded to Full Membership, a provisional member must be deemed competent and be signed off by one of the recognised person/s designated on the membership form and registered as such by the Membership Secretary. No additional fees are incurred.

Associate Membership

Non-shooting membership.

This is an ideal membership for anyone who accompanies an archer around a course (shoot guardian, observer etc). Associate members have no voting rights.

Family Membership

Open to partners (residing at the same address) with one or more children.
