3D Championship Disappointment

As you will know we are holding the 3Ds this year in the South of England near Ringwood. It is many years since we held the Nationals at Broadstone Warren near East Grinstead.

However even though the 3Ds has never been held in this area, enough clubs haven't been forthcoming to offer to lay 4 courses. We are lucky to have Apollo and Longbow Heritage who have volunteered to lay a course but even though there are several large experienced clubs in the area they appear unwilling to give of their time and experience to benefit the members of our society.

As your Field Officer, I have to say I am deeply disappointed.

For six years we held the 3Ds at Osmaston in Derbyshire and we were able to put on 4 courses for the championships. The Derby and Stoke on Trent clubs and even one from Cheshire all stepped up to the mark and laid courses, several doing it multiple times. Similarly, we have had two 3D Champs at Thoresby in Nottinghamshire in the last few years and again the local clubs waded in and made sure the membership had a Championships to enjoy.

I have heard that one club unwilling to step forward, even hold a pre-Champs open shoot for their club! Another club (one of the largest in the NFAS) also decided that they would not offer to lay a course. Without volunteers the NFAS Championships cannot take place.

If the concern is that the local clubs lack experience to lay a Champs course, then that can easily be rectified as my experienced Field Team will be only to pleased to advise and help out.

Without other volunteers coming forward in the next few weeks I am reluctantly forced to have to reduce this year's 3Ds to 2 courses only. As this is our biggest event I am sure many archers will be disappointed when their applications to shoot are not accepted.

Please local NFAS clubs and members, support your society and reconsider and let’s make the 2020 3Ds in the South of England a full event. I hope and look forward to hearing from you soon.

**Contract update**

We are pleased to confirm that the contract for the 3Ds has been signed. The entry form will be available in the newsletter and online once the newsletter is delivered. The location is Bisterne Manor, Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 3BN by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Mills.
It's a great location, looking forward to seeing everyone there.

There are three courses so spaces will be limited - book in early!
